Position Summary: The Nutrition Clerk is responsible for the collation of all patient diet orders, patient food requests and in person data collection from patients.
The Nutrition Clerk is responsible for collection of patient meal data for departmental budget reports.
Responsible for courteous telephone interaction with all that contact the department.
The Nutrition Clerk collects, maintains and updates all pertinent information that is used in the CBORD software system consults and works closely with the Clinical Dietitian to provide service to patients.
Education, License & Cert: High school transcript required.
Ability to read and write and understand oral communication.
Experience: On the job training is provided for this position.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for accepting all incoming phone calls and performing requested duty or referring caller to appropriate person as circumstance warrants per department guidelines.
Keeps detailed and complete phone log.
Prepares meal tallies and tray tickets.
Utilizes computerized diet sheets as per policy.
Accurately completes any necessary updating of menus, patient likes, dislikes and allergies in CBORD.
Visits newly admitted patients within 2 meal periods to obtain preferences and explain menu system in a timely manner.
Prepares and corrects menus according to approved diet manual, prescribed diet order and individual age or life stage requirements (i.
e.
, infant, pediatric, adolescent, pregnancy, lactation, adult, geriatric).
Performs other duties as assigned at request of Chief Dietitian, Supervisor, or Food Service Director, such as clarifying diet orders, visiting additional patients, calling outpatients as necessary.
Follow up on patients requiring diet education.

Relief supervision of kitchen as needed; especially to allow for PM Supervisor to conduct meal rounds or to cover staff breaks.
Prepares, delivers and/or cleans up functions as needed.

Communicates with Clinical Dieticians issues of concern.
