Position Summary:
Provides general observational support for assigned patient care area.
Works with other members of the patient care team to deliver care to patients in age groups including newborns, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics based on unit population.
Education, License & Cert:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
Sitter experience preferred but not necessary.
Essential Functions:
1.
Alert the RN of patient behavior which could lead to injury
2.
Communicate patient's needs to patient care team.
3.
Demonstrate behavior appropriate to keeping patient relaxed.
4.
Maintain and respect the patient's responsibility, privacy and dignity.
5.
Maintain constant observation status (constant eyesight of patient at all times).
6.
Maintain Special Observation documentation form (patient's location every 15 minutes) if determined suicide precautions/constant observation.
7.
Provide companionship to the patient.
Other Duties:
1.
Participates in performance improvement activities to improve service and care.
2.
Other duties as assigned.
