MWF 4pm-8pm
Under the direction of the supervisor, the Child Watch/Adventure Center staff will follow the sign in/out procedures and maintain a clean, safe and fun environment for member’s children and actively engage with members in the child watch and adventure center.
The position is responsible for demonstrating YMCA leadership competencies to ensure the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester is conveyed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Greet each family, introduce self, and provide positive engagement for all that enter the child watch and adventure center.
• Follow all procedures of the room(s) including but not limited to, cleaning and sign-in procedures.
• Actively engage and supervise children in the child watch and adventure center.
• Maintain a safe and attractive environment for all children.
• Keep accurate, detailed records of incident reports and other necessary documentation as required.
• Familiar with and carries out emergency procedures, building rules and regulations
• Maintain a well-presented facility with a high level of responsiveness in regard to cleanliness and repair.
• Attend all required meetings and training.
• Maintain required certifications.
• All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Must be at least 15 years of age.
• Must have a genuine interest in working with children ages 6 weeks through school-age.
• Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must possess CPR/AED and First Aid certifications or have the ability within 60 days of employment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to supervise children by sight and sound at all times.
• Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting (i.
e.
climbing, aggressive behavior).
• Ability to remain calm, objective and respectful in potentially stressful situations (i.
e.
crying upset child, upset parent, or upset staff).
• Ability to move around the room to assist children and supervise children with daily activities, social interaction, physical and emotional needs.
• Ability to lift young children and objects (i.
e.
supplies) up to 40 lbs.
